In the project ‘Power-to-Gas, Roadmap for Flanders’, that has been running in 2014-2015, a consortium of eight Flemish industrial partners has analysed the different Power-to-Gas options available today. Business cases for various valorisation pathways for hydrogen, produced from renewable energy sources, have been evaluated with an outlook to 2030-2050. Recommendations were formulated about how the Flemish industry can position itself in this future promising market (in Flanders and worldwide).
This project was funded by the Flemish 'Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen', Under the Grant Agreement: NIB.2013.CALL.001 “Roadmaps for Economic Challenges: Power-To-Gas Flanders” (01.10.2014 – 31.01.2016).
The conclusions of the roadmap study have been summarised in a report and a webinar:
- Definition of business models for various valorization routes (Power-to-Power, Power-to-Gas, Power-to-Mobility, Power-to-Fuels and Power-to-Chemistry);
- Future outlook of these business models (technological and economical) with a medium (2030) and long term perspective (2050);
- Recommendations for successful implementation of the Power-to-Gas concept in Flanders and abroad (appropriate regulatory framework);
- Definition of a Flemish value chain and creation of an industrial cluster around Power-to-Gas.
